Introduction
The essence of this lesson is that every Muslim should recognize the rights of other Muslims and should fulfill them practically, according to the status of each person in Islam. Particularly, he should have great regard for the honour of a Muslim who deserves all the respect because he has the light of Imaan in his heart. Rasulullah ﷺ says in a Hadith, “He is not one of us who does not respect our elders, does not show mercy to our youngsters and is not respectful to the student of Deen.” Another Hadith says. “Only a Munaafiq (hypocrite) could insult these three persons; firstly an aged Muslim, secondly an Aalim and thirdly a just Muslim king.” According to the teachings of the Qur-aan-e-Kareem and the Ahaadith, the following are the most important qualities of a true believer. He should realize the rights of the creation of Allah Ta’ala and should be polite and humble to them. He should like for others, what he likes for himself. He should neither be jealous of others nor should he show hatred towards them. He must not be proud. He should be polite and loving to all. He should be the first to greet a Muslim. He should be generous enough to forgive those who have offended him. He should visit the sick. He should respect everyone just as he respects himself. He should avoid backbiting. He should overlook the weaknesses of others. If anyone consults him, he should give him the correct and honest counsel. He should give financial help to the poor and needy. He should not rejoice in the misery of others. And the most important and valuable service to a Muslim is that he should be instructed with firm Imaan in Allah Ta’ala, in the Day of Qiyaamah and to be prepared for Day of Qiyaamah by doing a lot of good deeds, so that he may be saved from the punishment in the Aakhirah. Undoubtedly, this is the best service to a brother Muslim. Islam has instructed all the Muslims with a collective life and has enjoined them to be united so that they should provide peace and prosperity for one another. For instance, they have been instructed to put on their best clothes and apply itr (perfume) for the Jumu’ah and the Eid Salaah; they have been prevented from jumping over the necks of those sitting in a gathering, or to sit between two persons without their permission, or to move a person from the place where he is sitting. Rasulullah ﷺ says, “A true Muslim is he, who does not offend any other Muslim with his tongue or hand and a true believer is he, who does not cause any loss to another believer.” In another Hadith Rasulullah ﷺ says, “That person will not enter Jannah, whose neighbor is not safe from his mischief and evil.” These sayings of Rasulullah ﷺ clearly indicate that a believer should behave so politely towards others, that they should never fear any trouble or a loss from him. In another Hadith Rasulullah ﷺ says, “Whoever helps a poor and miserable person, Allah Ta’ala will grant him seventy three rewards, one of which will be sufficient to fulfil his needs in this world and the remaining seventy two rewards will elevate his rank in the Aakhirah.” Another Hadith says “When a Muslim leaves home to see another Muslim, seventy thousand Malaaikah see him off and all of them bless him with the mercy of Allah Ta’ala.” Rasulullah ﷺ says about a person who is your companion on a journey, “Only that person, who serves his companions on a journey, is your leader or ameer and no one can surpass such a person except a Shaheed.”
